Diagnostics
The
engineers at Secure Consulting Engineers have a strong background in
Colorado geology and have conducted research in the behavior of expansive
soils. Heave caused by the wetting of expansive soils represents the
leading cause of foundation damage in Colorado. (However, it is not the
only cause of foundation and structural damage.)

We
offer diagnostic services that include on-site observation of existing
conditions, slab and structure elevation surveys, long-term monitoring of
foundation movement, and structural assessments. Our engineers are
experienced in addressing cracked foundation walls, foundation movement, twisted
structural beams, and roof snow load safety. We have examined structures
damaged by wind, snow, frost, water seepage, rotting, heaving, subsistence and
improper design/modifications.

Our diagnostic program starts with an initial site
visit and observations. We may recommend areas of the
structure or foundation be exposed, a site survey be conducted, soil
exploration, and/or a historical document search for the site.
Following these
activities, we can offer opinions regarding the possible sources of the problem
and identify one or more potential solutions of varying degrees of risk and
cost. We can also assist with the design of those repairs.
